"Space Week to Open"... Naro Space Center and Observatories Open to the Public
KASA to Host "Space and Aviation Week" from May 23 to 29
Experience Events at 41 Locations Nationwide... NASA Experts to Join Conference
The Korea Aerospace Administration (KASA) will hold space experience events at science museums and research institutes nationwide to celebrate the second "Space and Aviation Day" on May 27. Some research facilities, including the Naro Space Center and astronomical observatories, will also be opened to the public on a trial basis.
KASA announced on May 11 that it has designated the period from May 23 to May 29 as "Space and Aviation Week." An opening ceremony will be held at the National Science Museum in Daejeon on May 23, and a commemorative ceremony will take place at KASA in Sacheon, South Gyeongsang Province, on May 27.
"Space and Aviation Day" was established as a national memorial day in 2024 to mark the founding of KASA. Through this occasion, the government aims to strengthen the foundation for fostering the space and aviation industry and to realize its vision of becoming one of the world’s top five space and aviation powers.
During this year's Space and Aviation Week, a variety of science and culture programs will be held at 41 institutions nationwide, including the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute, the Korea Aerospace Research Institute, and the National Science Museum.
The opening ceremony will feature the space-themed play "Six Months Before Launch," exhibitions of CubeSats and robotic aircraft, virtual reality (VR) experiences, and a "Wishes to the Moon" event.
Trial Opening of Naro Space Center and Observatories
In celebration of Space and Aviation Week, research facilities such as the Korea Aerospace Research Institute’s Naro Space Center, Sobaeksan Observatory, Bohyeonsan Observatory, and the KVN Radio Astronomy Observatory will be opened to the public on a trial basis.
On the same day, the "Space and Aviation Global Talent Development Conference" will be held at the Daejeon Convention Center, with participation from domestic and international experts, including Dr. Holly Miller from NASA, to discuss strategies for nurturing future talents in space and aviation.

Around 15 experience booths—including rocket making, space drone activities, and lunar rover experiences—will also operate around the event venue.
KASA also plans to offer programs for youth, such as tours, talk concerts, and space and aviation book exhibitions, in collaboration with Korea Aerospace Industries and local educational institutions.
