View original imageThe "Gyeonggi Korean Language School Pre-enrollment System" (hereinafter referred to as the "Pre-enrollment System") is a program that diagnoses the Korean language proficiency of multicultural students before they enroll in school. If a student does not reach a certain level, intensive Korean language education is provided first to support their entry into the public education system.
Until now, some multicultural students have entered school without sufficient Korean communication skills, making it difficult for them to participate in school life and learning activities. As a result, there has been a continuous demand at schools for a system that allows students to acquire basic Korean language skills before entering school.
In response, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education is operating the Pre-enrollment System, centered on the Gyeonggi Korean Language Schools in Ansan and Hwaseong, and has established a step-by-step support system. The main components include: ▲ assessment of proficiency using Korean language diagnostic tools, ▲ intensive Korean language education to improve basic communication skills, and ▲ support for supplementary education after returning to their original school.
Currently, 13 Gyeonggi Korean Language Schools in the province (eight institutions in Ansan and five in Hwaseong) are participating as Pre-enrollment System base institutions. In addition, 16 base schools are in operation.
Based on the results of the pilot program, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education plans to expand the Pre-enrollment System throughout the province to strengthen the foundation for stable entry of multicultural students into the public education system. The office also aims to establish it as a new public education model to support adaptation to school life and learning.
