Oh Sehun Criticizes Jung Wono's Silence on Special Prosecutor for Dismissal of Prosecution: "Unfit for Mayor"
"A Notion That Shakes the Foundations of Korean Democracy"
On Constitutional Amendment: "Lack of Sufficient Social Debate"
Oh Se-hoon, the People Power Party candidate for Seoul mayor, criticized Jung Won-oh, the Democratic Party of Korea candidate, for remaining silent on the so-called "Manipulated Prosecution Special Counsel," calling it "a disqualification as a mayoral candidate representing the 10 million citizens of Seoul."
On May 7, after attending the "Real Estate Hell Citizens' Countermeasure Meeting" held in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, Oh told reporters, "The idea of fundamentally destroying democracy is unfolding in 21st century Korea, yet a candidate who aspires to lead the capital Seoul is dismissing this as mere political strife." He added, "This is unacceptable."

He continued, "Nevertheless, the candidate himself is keeping his hands off and claims he will not get involved." The previous day, Assemblyman Park appeared on CBS Radio's "Seongtae Park's News Show," where he remarked that "8 or 9 out of 10 Koreans don't know what dismissal of prosecution is and aren't interested," suggesting public indifference to the issue.
Oh Se-hoon said, "Attention should be paid to the remarks made by the Senior Presidential Secretary for Political Affairs, who said there is a national consensus regarding the special counsel law." He continued, "Before the election, they may refrain from pushing it due to fear of a public backlash, but after the election—especially if they win—it will be a full-fledged declaration to begin the special counsel for dismissal of prosecution."
He added, "I appeal to voters to show their outrage at the ballot box so that it can become a decisive factor in blocking any attempt to push the special counsel law after the election."
Regarding the constitutional amendment bill submitted to the National Assembly plenary session on this day, Oh stated, "For constitutional amendments, the process of forming sufficient consensus among the people and society is far more important than the outcome itself." He added, "Even with a partial amendment, the contents under discussion must be fully communicated to the public and a discourse must be formed, but that is not at all the case right now."
As for the Reform New Party candidate Kim Jungcheol's camp announcing plans to file an election law violation complaint against both Oh and Jung Won-oh with the National Election Commission, Oh said, "The election law is very strict and complicated, so there is room for various misunderstandings," adding, "If there is any room for misinterpretation, I will make sure to prevent similar incidents from happening in the future."
Meanwhile, Oh Se-hoon's campaign officially began receiving "Real Estate Hell On-site Reports" on this day. This is a follow-up to the previously launched "Real Estate Hell Citizens' Countermeasure Meeting," aiming to uncover the realities of real estate problems occurring on the ground.
