NH Nonghyup Bank Holds Disaster Countermeasure Committee Meeting: "Strengthening Proactive Prediction and Systematic Preparedness"
Pre-Positioning of Emergency Relief Supplies and Field Personnel Support Kits
NH Nonghyup Bank has agreed to take a proactive approach in response to the normalization of disasters and calamities caused by the intensifying climate crisis.
On May 7, the bank announced that it had held the first Disaster Countermeasure Committee meeting of 2026 at its headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, the previous day, where it discussed establishing a response system to minimize damage for both customers and the local community.
The NH Nonghyup Bank Disaster Countermeasure Committee serves as a body to provide prompt material, human, and financial support, as well as systematic recovery assistance, to customers affected by disasters and calamities in the agricultural sector, rural areas, and local communities. The committee is led by the Senior Executive Vice President, with the heads of 16 relevant departments participating as members.
During the meeting, members agreed that the role of financial institutions is becoming increasingly important due to the recurrence and growing scale of disasters and calamities. They decided to strengthen the response system by shifting the focus from post-disaster recovery to proactive prediction and systematic preparedness.
To ensure a swift initial response in the event of a disaster or calamity, emergency relief supplies will be pre-positioned nationwide at the local level, and a response system has been established that includes support kits for field personnel.
An NH Nonghyup Bank representative stated, "By pre-positioning relief supplies and deploying them immediately on site, we aim to provide practical assistance to customers and the local community affected by disasters."
The meeting was also attended by a working-level official from the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, who outlined the government's disaster management response system and requested cooperation should the Disaster Victim Support Center be operated.
