More than 20 people attended the event, including former Commander Harris, newly appointed generals from the US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, as well as senior officials from the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA). On Hanwha's side, key executives from the three defense companies—including Hanwha Aerospace President Seo Wook, Hanwha Systems, and Hanwha Ocean—were present.
The management teams of the three Hanwha defense companies introduced the current status and vision of the group's global defense business, as well as the capabilities of their major weapons systems. They also shared ways to contribute to the South Korea-US alliance across the land, air, and maritime sectors.
Both sides agreed that Hanwha's defense capabilities are emerging as a key pillar of the South Korea-US alliance. Discussions also continued on future cooperation measures.
Admiral Harry Harris is recognized as a key figure in Indo-Pacific security, having served as Commander of the US Pacific Fleet and the US Indo-Pacific Command. From 2018 to 2021, he was the US Ambassador to South Korea and currently serves as a Senior Fellow at the National Defense University (NDU) and as Honorary Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea.
