View original imageOn the afternoon of May 6, Min held an emergency press conference at her campaign office and made public a handwritten statement of facts from Mr. A, a construction industry worker who has been singled out as a key figure in the allegations.
Recently, some media outlets, citing interviews with the informant, reported suspicions that "during the 2022 local elections, 14 million won in cash was delivered to candidate Min at the instruction of the company’s CEO, and 30 million won in company funds was sent for the purpose of operating the election camp."
However, in the statement of facts released by Min, the person in question, Mr. A, clearly stated, "I have never delivered any money or goods to candidate Min, nor have I ever expected or requested any preferential treatment regarding permits or approvals related to land in the Gangmae-dong area."
Mr. A specifically raised the possibility that the person presumed to have made the recent report acted out of personal resentment, saying, "The individual in question resigned after conflicts at the company he managed," suggesting that the tip-off may have been a malicious act stemming from private animosity.
Min’s election campaign committee regards the raising of these allegations as an intervention by an organized group behind the scenes ahead of the election, and announced strong legal countermeasures.
The committee has filed a complaint with the Goyang Police Station against the anonymous accuser on charges of spreading false information and defamation under the Public Official Election Act. The committee also plans to respond to media outlets that reported the allegations by applying for mediation through the Press Arbitration Commission and requesting a right of reply through the Election News Deliberation Committee.
Min stated, "I have not yet obtained a copy of the complaint and have requested information disclosure," adding, "I urge the police to conduct a swift investigation. I will clearly prove my innocence. I hope for a prompt investigation so that I can fight honorably in the main election."

Meanwhile, on the morning of May 6, the 'Citizens' Group for the Normalization of the Democratic Party of Korea in Goyang' held a press conference in front of the Democratic Party headquarters in Yeouido, Seoul, calling for Min’s resignation and replacement as candidate. They argued that the corruption allegations surrounding Min are undermining the party's morality and its chances of winning the main election, and called for the immediate launch of an investigation by the Central Party Ethics Inspection Team and a complete replacement with a clean candidate.
