Daedong Implements Agricultural Physical AI...Unveils Korea-Specific AI Tractor
Agricultural Physical AI Strategy Unveiled at '2026 Tech Day'
Daedong announced on April 30 that it unveiled its strategy for transitioning into an agricultural physical artificial intelligence (AI) company at the '2026 Daedong Tech Day', and showcased the results of this strategy, including the AI tractor and transport robot.
'2026 Daedong Tech Day', held over two days on April 28 and 29 at the Daedong Changnyeong Campus and Daedong Mobility S-Factory, featured programs such as: ▲Group Agricultural AX Strategy ▲AI Tractor Unmanned Autonomous Operation Demonstration ▲Tractor Performance and Quality Test Site Tour ▲Agricultural Robot Development Roadmap Announcement ▲Indoor and Outdoor Hybrid Autonomous Transport Robot and Mowing Robot Demonstration.
During the event, Daedong presented the application of agricultural physical AI in the field to reduce the labor burden on farmers and support productivity improvements through simple supervision. At the same time, the company suggested a direction for streamlining overall agricultural operations by utilizing the data collected and accumulated from agricultural sites. In addition, Daedong announced its plan to expand beyond agricultural machinery sales to a recurring revenue model based on data and service offerings.
Daedong plans to distribute AI tractors and agricultural robots to address agricultural challenges, while simultaneously enhancing its AI capabilities using real-time field data collection. The company aims to provide agricultural operations services that reduce production costs and increase high-quality crop yields, thereby maximizing both equipment and service revenue. To realize this strategy, Daedong established a specialized robotics and AI subsidiary and has collected 5.1 million sets of data for physical AI over the past four years since 2022.
At the event, Daedong demonstrated the AI tractor issuing simultaneous commands to two tractors using a single app without an operator onboard. The demonstration also featured the AI tractor autonomously generating optimal work routes using six cameras mounted on a smart roof, and detecting unexpected obstacles in real time. This AI tractor is a vision AI tractor specialized for small-scale farmland—something not even global manufacturers have developed. In Korea, agriculture is centered around small fields separated by paddy embankments (boundaries). If a tractor cannot recognize these embankments, it may leave the cultivated area. Daedong claims that, currently, its AI tractor is the only tractor in the world capable of recognizing farmland and performing agricultural operations based on vision AI.
Daedong intends to gradually expand its recurring revenue model based on data and service, starting with the launch of the AI tractor. Field data collected by the AI tractor will be gathered and analyzed in real time by Daedong's operation center, and the company envisions a subscription-based AI agricultural service model that links these insights to operational performance improvements and precision agriculture solutions.
Byungwoo Kam, Head of Development at Daedong, stated, "The AI tractor is the vanguard of the Daedong AI agriculture platform, accumulating data, learning, and evolving with every operation," adding, "We will create an era where AI guides and executes farming for farmers."

During the event, Daedong Robotics' roadmap for agricultural robot development was also unveiled. Daedong Robotics is executing a strategy to evolve into a multi-purpose agricultural robot by 2030, attaching various hardware—such as for transport, mowing, pest control, monitoring, and harvesting—to small, medium, and large electric autonomous platforms. The company is also expanding its business by deploying indoor-outdoor hybrid autonomous transport robots to industrial sites. The transport robot is GPS-based for outdoor autonomous driving and lidar-based for indoor autonomous driving. When connected to a trailer, it can carry up to 1 ton of cargo on flat ground. Since last year, Daedong has been collaborating with major corporations to conduct pilot deployments at their factories.
Daedong Vice Chairman Yoo Hyun Won said, "This Tech Day was not just an event for a company that manufactures agricultural machinery, but a declaration that Daedong is a company transforming the very way agriculture is operated," adding, "Through physical AI, we will overcome the structural crisis in Korean agriculture and create a future where Daedong is responsible for global agricultural productivity."
