Korea Insurance Institute of Education Expands Stablecoin Tuition Payments to 15 Courses
10% Discount for Stablecoin Payments
"Pilot Projects for Digital Asset Payments in Education to Be Continuously Expanded"
The Korea Insurance Institute of Education announced on April 30 that it will expand the stablecoin tuition payment system, which was first introduced by a domestic educational institution in February, to 15 courses in its Crypto Literacy program.
Through the stablecoin payment pilot project, the institute confirmed operational demand and stability, and decided to expand the application from just one course to all online courses in the same field. The stablecoin payment pilot project conducted in February ended earlier than scheduled due to high demand.
The expanded stablecoin tuition payment will apply to a total of 15 courses within the 'Crypto Literacy' program, covering everything from the basics of digital assets to their practical application and use.
The courses will begin on May 18, with enrollment opening on May 8. To promote digital asset payments, the institute will offer a 10% discount on tuition fees paid via stablecoin, consistent with the terms of the pilot project.
Students can pay their tuition by transferring U.S. dollar-based stablecoins from their Upbit exchange wallet to the institute's wallet. Once KRW-based stablecoins are introduced, the payment method will transition to Korean won-based transactions.
The institute plans to continue expanding its pilot projects that use digital assets as actual payment methods.
