Crit Ventures Invests in Two Locally Produced Films in Vietnam
Venture capital firm Crit Ventures announced on April 30 that it has invested in two Korean films produced locally in Vietnam by the global content production company Runup Company.
The films receiving investment are "30 Days," a romance-comedy, and "Yeongdeok Haunted House," a horror title. "30 Days" is a Vietnamese remake of the Korean film of the same name, starring Jung So-min and Kang Ha-neul. It centers on a comedic story of a couple suffering from mutual amnesia just 30 days before their divorce. "Yeongdeok Haunted House" explores strange phenomena experienced by a Korean-Vietnamese multicultural family at a restaurant in Yeongdeok, North Gyeongsang Province.
Runup Company is expanding its business in Vietnam through its local subsidiary "Runup Vietnam." Last year, its film "The Last Wish," released in Vietnam, ranked first at the weekly box office.
Domestic venture capital firms have continued to invest in the Vietnamese film market due to factors such as low production costs and high ticket prices. Crit Ventures also plans to create a separate fund to enable ongoing investment following this round.
