Ministry of Agriculture to Offer Up to 58% Off Processed Foods for Family Month in May
Discount Events in Collaboration with 16 Major Food Companies
To mark Family Month in May, the government will launch discount events on processed foods such as ramen, bread, cooking oil, and tofu in an effort to reduce the burden of grocery costs for the public.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on the 30th that it will hold processed food discount events in collaboration with 16 major food companies.
An official from the Ministry explained, "This event will run for one month from May 1 to 31, offering discounts of up to 58% on 4,373 processed food items that are closely tied to people's daily lives and have high demand."
Specifically, companies such as Nongshim and Paldo will offer discounts of up to 36% on packet and cup ramen at large supermarkets, convenience stores, and online platforms. Samlip and Pulmuone will discount bread products by up to 37%, while CJ CheilJedang and Daesang will provide discounts of up to 50% on cooking oil.

Jung Kyungseok, Director of Food Industry Policy at the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs, stated, "These discount events are the result of active cooperation between the government and the food industry to stabilize grocery prices despite difficult external conditions. We will closely monitor progress to ensure that the public can feel the impact of these discounts, and we will continue to expand cooperation with the food industry to maintain efforts to stabilize the cost of living."
