Seo-gu, Gwangju Expands One-Stop Service for Complex Civil Affairs
Introduction of Advance Reservation System and Strengthening of Civil Petition Guardian Program
Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City is expanding its civil service system to allow residents to consult on and process complex licensing and permit requests, which previously required visits to multiple departments, all in one place.
Starting in May, Seo-gu announced that the scope of its one-stop service for complex civil affairs will be expanded from the current 26 types to 37 types, and that both the advance reservation system and the civil petition guardian system will be further strengthened.
The one-stop service for complex civil affairs is a system designed to reduce the inconvenience of visiting multiple departments for a single petition, while enabling related departments to review and process requests together for greater efficiency. The main categories include building permits, building notifications, development activity permits, and outdoor advertising display permits—licensing and permit matters closely tied to residents’ daily lives.
Seo-gu will also newly implement an ‘advance reservation system for complex civil affairs’ to strengthen the consultation function before submission of petitions. If a resident makes a reservation two to three days before the desired visit, officials from the relevant departments will provide advance guidance on procedures, required documents, and the feasibility of processing the request. There are a total of 40 consultation categories, and the service is available on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The scope of the civil petition guardian system, which assists residents during the petition process, will also be expanded from 17 types of work to 51 types.
