Gokseong County in Jeollanam-do has strengthened its status as a leading local government for returning-to-farm and returning-to-village initiatives by being recognized for its promotional capabilities at a nationwide expo.
The county announced on April 29 that it had participated in the 'Y-FARM EXPO 2026,' held from April 24 to 26 at the Suwon Convention Center, and received the 'Excellent Promotion Hall Award,' thereby demonstrating its competitiveness as a leading municipality in supporting returning-to-farm and returning-to-village residents.

View original imageAt the expo, which featured participation from over 100 local governments and related organizations nationwide, Gokseong County conducted targeted promotional activities for urban residents and young people interested in relocating to the countryside. In particular, policy guidance and on-site consultations covering every stage from initial settlement to establishing a farming base attracted significant attention from visitors.
During the expo, the county not only provided information on support programs for agricultural startups and housing purchases but also promoted the unique appeal of Gokseong by showcasing the Hometown Love Donation Program and regional specialty products. As a result, the county was honored with selection as an Excellent Promotion Hall based on strong responses at the event.
There have also been tangible results in attracting new residents. Through the county-run 'Experience Living Well in Jeonnam' program, five recent participants have officially relocated to Gokseong County, indicating a steady expansion of the foundation for attracting urban migrants.
