Gyeongnam Information University 'Scissor Hands' Selected for Five Consecutive Years
Beauty and Hairdressing Talent Donation, Linked with ANCHOR Program
The 'Scissor Hands' volunteer club from the Hair Design Department at Gyeongnam Information University has been selected for the 'Sotong Gori University Student Volunteer Contest' organized by Busan City and the Kori Nuclear Power Headquarters. By continuing talent donation activities that utilize their area of expertise, the club has achieved the record of being selected for five consecutive years.
On April 29, Gyeongnam Information University (President Kim Taesang) announced that 'Scissor Hands' has been selected for the 12th Sotong Gori University Student Volunteer Contest. The club has been named as a recipient for five consecutive years, from 2022 through this year.
Going forward, the club’s students will carry out beauty and hairdressing volunteer work for local seniors this year. These activities are a form of talent donation utilizing their major skills, allowing students to engage in field-based practice while also contributing to the community at the same time.
This activity is linked to the university’s ongoing ANCHOR (Regional Growth Talent Development System) project. The ANCHOR project is a restructured version of the previous RISE project, focusing on nurturing locally rooted talent and strengthening the connection between industry and universities. The 'Scissor Hands' initiative is evaluated as a case that contributes to the local community through major-based volunteer work while simultaneously fostering talent.
The Hair Design Department at Gyeongnam Information University is also strengthening its field-oriented education. It operates employment-linked educational programs through agreements with Juno Hair, Park Seungcheol Hair Studio, ID Hair, and Pellia Hair. By offering practice-oriented programs involving industry experts, the department enhances students’ ability to adapt to real work environments.
Department Head Jung Sookhee said, "This long-running volunteer activity has become a leading program in the region," adding, "We will continue to guide our students so they can grow into talented individuals equipped not only with skills but also with a sense of sharing and responsibility."
