Accelerating M.AX and Green Transformation in Industrial Complexes... Ministry Launches Integrated Public Offering
Nine Projects and 39 Initiatives Selected for Smart Green Industrial Complexes
Up to 300 Billion Won Invested in AI and Energy Infrastructure
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy has launched a large-scale public offering to support the Manufacturing Artificial Intelligence Transformation (M.AX) and Green Transformation (GX) of industrial complexes.
On April 28, the ministry announced that it would hold the "2026 Smart Green Industrial Complex Support Program Integrated Public Offering" from April 29 to June 8. Through this public offering, a total of nine projects and 39 new initiatives will be selected, with 90 billion won in support provided this year. Over the next three to four years, a total of 300 billion won in government funding will be invested.
Since 2019, the government has designated 24 industrial complexes across the country—including Changwon, Banwol-Sihwa, and Gumi—as Smart Green Industrial Complexes, and has worked to establish infrastructure for manufacturing innovation and energy transition.
This public offering consists of five projects in the M.AX domain and four projects in the GX domain. In the M.AX domain, the projects include establishing demonstration industrial complexes for AX, a smart logistics platform, a Manufacturing AX Industry-Academia Innovation Park, building a 5G specialized network in industrial complexes, and demonstrating edge-based AI Data Centers (AIDC). In the GX domain, the initiatives include the development of smart energy platforms (FEMS, FEMS+), establishing energy self-sufficiency infrastructure, and creating digital-based resource circulation demonstration complexes.
In particular, for the newly designated Asan Bugok, Masan Free Trade Zone, and Chungju industrial complexes, common infrastructure projects such as the smart logistics platform, Manufacturing AX Industry-Academia Innovation Park, and FEMS implementation will be prioritized.
In addition, competitive projects such as the construction of 5G specialized networks, AI Data Center demonstrations, and energy infrastructure will be carried out for Smart Green Industrial Complexes nationwide. Support will also be provided to 14 tenant companies for the implementation of FEMS+ with carbon emission measurement functionality. In Yeosu and Pohang National Industrial Complexes, digital-based resource circulation pilot projects will be pursued.
The government aims to achieve both digital transformation and carbon reduction in industrial complexes through this initiative, while also boosting the productivity and competitiveness of tenant companies.
Furthermore, this public offering has revised its evaluation criteria to reflect the regional balanced development policy focused on the "5 Major Axes and 3 Special Zones." Additional points will be given to non-metropolitan and underdeveloped regions, with regional impact and balance strengthened as key evaluation factors.
