KCGI Salaryman Fund Surpasses 500 Billion Won in Net Assets
KCGI Asset Management announced on April 28 that the “KCGI Salaryman Fund” has surpassed 500 billion won in net assets, 8 years and 1 month after its inception.
According to KCGI Asset Management, this fund was launched in 2018 with the goal of helping office workers build long-term assets. At the end of 2018, its net assets stood at only 1.4 billion won, but over the past 8 years, this has grown approximately 350-fold.
Based on KG Zeroin data as of the 16th, the fund posted a 1-year return of 55.4%, ranking within the top 36% of its category for 1-year, 3-year, and 5-year periods. Since inception, the cumulative return is 150.6%, placing it in the top 26% of its category. When converted into an annualized rate of return since inception, this equates to around 12%.
The standard deviation for different periods, which measures volatility, is also reported to be excellent. The fund's volatility falls below the category average for all periods, indicating lower volatility.
In addition, the fund pursues a differentiated asset allocation strategy. Through extensive back-data analysis, the fund combines asset classes with strong long-term returns and low correlation, enabling stable returns. It diversifies investments across 9 main funds, including equities from major countries such as Korea and the United States, as well as bonds, REITs, and infrastructure assets. The fund seeks both stability and growth through ongoing rebalancing. Additionally, it focuses on growth companies that benefit from global mega-trends such as technological change, climate change, and demographic shifts, building a strategy to enhance long-term returns.
Currently, 79% of the fund’s subscribers invest through individual pension and retirement pension accounts. About 46% invest via installment plans, resulting in a steady increase in assets under management. KCGI Asset Management plans to foster this fund as one of its flagship products, alongside the KCGI Korea Fund and the TDF Fund.
A representative from KCGI Asset Management explained, "The achievement over 8 years is the result of combining asset classes with excellent long-term returns and low correlation within a systematic asset allocation framework, and consistently pursuing both stability and profitability through rebalancing."
