According to the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities Act, April 20 is designated as "Disability Day" every year, and the week starting from Disability Day is observed as "Disability Week." In line with this, Changwon City hosted a variety of events including a contest related to disabilities, an art exhibition by persons with disabilities, and the Disability Day Commemoration Ceremony.
This year, under the slogan "Ordinary Life for Everyone," which embodies the city's commitment to reflecting the basic rights to everyday life in its policies, Changwon City created an opportunity for unity and communication among all participants.
The commemoration ceremony, organized by the Changwon Federation of Disabled Persons, was attended by more than 1,100 people, including persons with disabilities, their families, volunteers, and citizens. The event began with a percussion performance for the visually impaired and a pre-ceremony performance by the Thebeureo Orchestra, followed by the reading of the Charter of Human Rights for Persons with Disabilities, recognition awards, congratulatory and commemorative speeches, and a performance by a guest singer.
