Nikkei: "Samsung Electronics to Withdraw from Home Appliance and TV Sales in China"
Reports have emerged that Samsung Electronics plans to withdraw from its home appliance and TV sales operations in China within this year.
On April 27, Japan’s Nihon Keizai Shimbun (Nikkei) cited sources as saying that Samsung Electronics intends to focus more on the robustly growing U.S. market and its semiconductor and smartphone businesses, as profitability in China has worsened due to the rapid progress of local competitors.
According to the report, Samsung Electronics plans to gradually dispose of its inventory in China and completely end local sales by 2026. However, the company will maintain its production facilities in China for products such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners. These Chinese factories are expected to serve as production bases for overseas supply rather than for domestic sales.
Nikkei also reported that, in response to these reports, Samsung Electronics stated that “no decisions have been made.”
