On April 27, the leadership of the Democratic Party of Korea, including Party Leader Jeong Cheongrae, visited the campaign office of Bora Kim, the party’s candidate for mayor of Anseong, Gyeonggi Province, to hold an on-site Supreme Council meeting. This meeting was organized to consolidate momentum in the southern region of Gyeonggi, a key battleground in the local elections, starting from Anseong, and to focus the party’s support on candidate Bora Kim, who is making a historic bid to become the first three-term female mayor in the history of local autonomy in South Korea.

View original imageThe meeting was attended by Party Leader Jeong Cheongrae, Supreme Council members, and Choo Mi-ae, the Democratic Party’s candidate for Governor of Gyeonggi Province, presenting a powerful policy alliance lineup of “Jeong Cheongrae (party) – Choo Mi-ae (province) – Bora Kim (city).”
In his opening remarks, Party Leader Jeong Cheongrae stated, “Since Bora Kim took office as mayor, Anseong has attracted investments totaling 1.3 trillion won, including the establishment of the Anseong semiconductor materials and components campus and Hyundai Motor Group’s future mobility battery campus, transforming the city into a hub for advanced industries.” He emphasized, “Bora Kim’s success is the clearest model showing how Democratic Party-style local governance can transform citizens’ lives.”
He further highlighted, “In the 30-year history of local autonomy in South Korea, there has never been a ‘three-term female mayor.’ We will provide unwavering budgetary and policy support at the central party level so that candidate Bora Kim, armed with proven capability, can break this glass ceiling and become a source of pride for the citizens of Anseong.”
In her address, candidate Bora Kim declared, “Pursuing the first three-term female mayorship in South Korean history is not just a personal achievement but will serve as a historic milestone proving that Anseong is at the forefront of innovation, opening the future solely through capability.”
Candidate Kim proclaimed “Achieving Innovation, Opening the Great Anseong Era” as the core policy direction of the 9th popularly elected administration, emphasizing ten signature pledges that promise to transform the city: ▲Establishment of a future mobility mega-special zone ▲Creation of a virtuous cycle system for agriculture (production, processing, distribution, and consumption) ▲The advent of the Anseong railway era (JTX, Pyeongtaek–Bubal Line) ▲Establishment of Anseong Urban Corporation ▲Designation as a youth-friendly city ▲Development of a customized integrated care system for citizens ▲Completion of the Anseong-style solar pension project ▲Establishment of a regional virtuous cycle economic system ▲Registration in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network ▲Formation of an AI-based smart safety innovation city.
Kim pledged, “Just as citizens placed their trust in my capabilities in the challenging environment of 2022, I will once again reciprocate with the competence of an ‘experienced leader.’ I am committed to a clean and confident victory through an energy-saving and policy-focused campaign.”

Meanwhile, after the on-site Supreme Council meeting, Party Leader Jeong Cheongrae and the party leadership visited Anseong Matchum Market and Jungang Market with candidate Bora Kim, where they continued their outreach by directly engaging with merchants and citizens to address local livelihood issues.
