Jeung Eunkyung, Minister of Health and Welfare, visited the Northern Sejong Integrated Administrative Welfare Center in Jochiwon-eup, Sejong Special Self-Governing City, in the afternoon of April 27, to personally inspect the site for the first round of distribution and applications for the "High Oil Price Damage Relief Fund."

View original imageThis visit coincided with the first day of proactive payments to vulnerable groups, providing them with support 21 days earlier than the general public due to the recent surge in oil prices caused by the Middle East crisis. The High Oil Price Damage Relief Fund will be distributed to 70% of the entire population, with the amount per person varying from 100,000 won up to a maximum of 600,000 won, depending on income and region.
Minister Jeung checked the preparations, including the application counters and supply of prepaid cards, and encouraged the public officials on site. She specifically instructed that the "visiting service" be operated thoroughly to ensure that vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and persons with disabilities, are not excluded. She also emphasized the need for careful consideration to protect recipients' human rights throughout the application process.
Minister Jeung stated, "I hope that this preemptive support will help stabilize the livelihoods of ordinary citizens and invigorate the local economy."
