Building an Energy Industry Ecosystem Centered on Jinju Innovation City Expected
Jinju City, Gyeongsangnam-do, announced on April 22 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Gyeongsangnam-do Province and the labor union of Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd. to attract the integrated headquarters of the power generation public corporation to Jinju Innovation City.
The purpose of this agreement is to strengthen the foundation for the growth of Jinju Innovation City, as well as to establish a cooperative system aiming at revitalizing the local economy and promoting balanced national development by attracting the integrated headquarters of the power generation public corporation.
Under the agreement, each institution and the labor union have agreed to expand cooperation in various areas, including: joint action to attract the integrated headquarters, the promotion of sustainable balanced development, policy cooperation for energy transition based on renewable energy, and the joint discovery of national policies and regional development strategies.
In particular, they plan to establish a practical cooperative system for attracting the integrated headquarters and will jointly engage in developing related policies and responding to the central government.
An official from Jinju City stated, "This agreement marks the first step toward attracting the integrated headquarters of the power generation public corporation," and added, "We will create an energy industry ecosystem centered on Jinju Innovation City and lead the way in creating quality jobs and revitalizing the local economy."
The official went on to say, "Based on cooperation with Gyeongsangnam-do Province and Korea South-East Power Co., Ltd., we will grow into a city that leads balanced national development and energy transition."
