Busan Port Authority will hold a Korea-UK international joint research成果 sharing workshop from April 22 to 24 at various locations in Gijang, Busan, and at the Busan Port site.
This workshop is intended as an interim review for the "AI-PASSPORT" project, which is supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology. Busan Port Authority has been participating in this project since November 2024.
The workshop will be attended by 25 researchers and practitioners from 11 organizations, including Kennet (the lead organization), Busan Port Authority, Sejong University, Hanwha Ocean, Lloyd's Register of the UK, and the University of Liverpool.

On the first day, the workshop will focus on step-by-step risk assessments; on the second day, participants will share research成果 and discuss future development directions. On the final day, there will be site visits to Hanwha Ocean in Geoje and to Busan Port to assess the feasibility of practical applications.
Key topics include AI-based ship and port operation efficiency, the establishment of a real-time information sharing platform, and commercialization strategies.
The AI-PASSPORT project aims to support autonomous navigation by deriving optimal ship routes and monitoring emissions through real-time data sharing. The total research budget is KRW 1.4 billion, and the project will continue until October 2026.
