The "Profit Sharing Program from the Sale of Volume-Based Waste Bags" is an initiative in which large retailers in the city that sell more than 100 million won worth of volume-based waste bags annually return a portion of the profits earned from sales commissions over the past year to the local community.
The program began in 2021 based on an agreement between Changwon City, major retailers, and the South Gyeongsang Community Chest of Korea, and this year marks its fifth anniversary. Including this latest donation, the cumulative amount donated so far has reached 265 million won. The funds collected will be meaningfully used through the South Gyeongsang Community Chest of Korea to support local small business owners and promote community welfare.
Jang Geum-yong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, stated, "I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the participating companies and everyone involved for their continued participation in this warm-hearted sharing, even in challenging economic conditions. Changwon City will also do its best to ensure that compassion spreads throughout the community and that the culture of sharing continues to grow."
