Seo-gu, Gwangju Announces Recipients of the 32nd Seo-gu Citizens’ Award

Award Ceremony to Be Held on Seo-gu Citizens' Day, May 7
Seo-gu District in Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on April 22 that it has selected three recipients for the 32nd Seo-gu Citizens’ Award.
The Seo-gu Citizens’ Award, established in 1994, is the district’s most prestigious honor. This year’s recipients are: ▲ Choi Mujin (58) in the Social Service category ▲ Jung Chanyong (62) in the Education, Literature, and Sports category ▲ Kim Seongsuk (73) in the Community and Economy category.

Choi Mujin, the awardee in the Social Service category, is the CEO of Nanum Tech Co., Ltd. He has put corporate social responsibility into practice by providing customized support for vulnerable groups, including children and the elderly. As a member of the Seo-gu Honors Club, he pledged a donation of 100 million won, and has been recognized for his ongoing acts of sharing and giving, helping to address gaps in the welfare system.
Jung Chanyong, the awardee in the Education, Literature, and Sports category, serves as the head of the Gwangju Regional Headquarters of the Korea Certification Association. He is also the president of the Barefoot Walking Club and the leader of the Slow Jogging Group, leading efforts to promote community health and revitalize the local community.
Kim Seongsuk, the awardee in the Community and Economy category, is the chairperson of Hwajeong Credit Cooperative. She has consistently practiced various acts of giving, such as community contribution programs, sponsorship of sports events, and support for vulnerable groups.
Lee Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu, said, "I am grateful to the awardees for their silent dedication throughout the community," adding, "I hope their contributions become widely known and help spread a culture of sharing and participation."

So far, the Seo-gu Citizens’ Award has been presented to 83 individuals and 13 organizations. The award ceremony will be held on May 7 in Deulbul Hall at Seo-gu Office, in conjunction with the 32nd Seo-gu Citizens’ Day commemoration ceremony.
