The maintenance plan, which was established for the efficient maintenance and management of vacant houses, will be implemented over a five-year period from this year through 2030.
There are a total of 145 vacant houses remaining in Hwacheon County, and they will be renovated according to the characteristics of each property.
Among the general vacant houses, those that are usable will be encouraged to be managed voluntarily or traded by their owners, while non-residential properties will be considered for conversion into living social overhead capital (SOC) facilities.
If management is required, safety measures such as posting no-entry notices will be implemented.
For specific vacant houses designated for demolition, the county will support demolition with the owner's consent and will consider establishing living SOC facilities on those sites.
For specific vacant houses without owner consent, or general vacant houses requiring asbestos removal, demolition will be guided through administrative direction.
During the process of vacant house maintenance, Hwacheon County will actively promote its vacant house maintenance support program and demolition support program to provide partial financial assistance. The necessary funding is being considered for procurement through national subsidies and other sources.
At the same time, Hwacheon County is also accelerating the supply of new housing.
Last year, the village maintenance-type public rental housing in Shineup-ri, Hwacheon-eup, and the newlywed rental housing in Georye-ri, Hanam-myeon, were completed and residents have moved in.
In addition, projects are underway as planned, including the Sancheoneo Happy Town in Hari, Hwacheon-eup; integrated public rental housing in Shineup-ri; Hwacheon-style Bogeumjari in Shineup-ri; Hwacheon-style Childcare-friendly Village in Shineup-ri; newlywed public rental housing in Sachang-ri, Sanae-myeon; welfare housing for the elderly in Sachang-ri; border area complex community village in Gancheok-ri, Gandeong-myeon; generational coexistence self-sufficient housing complex in Gancheok-ri; and the youth rural housing project in Woncheon-ri, Hanam-myeon.
