Inje Enuri Marketplace Opens with a Bang... Wild Herb Craze Drives Sales Surge
The first 2026 Enuri Marketplace, the representative direct trade market of Inje County in Gangwon Province, concluded successfully with an enthusiastic response from many visitors.
The initial marketplace, held from April 18 to 19, was filled with energy as local residents, tourists, and visitors from outside the region continuously flocked to the event.
In particular, wild herbs in season such as pickled allium, gomchwi, angelica tree shoots, and Cirsium setidens—grown in Inje's pristine nature—were especially popular, drawing significant interest from consumers.
Along with the fresh wild herbs, a wide variety of local agricultural specialties and food offerings were also sold, enhancing the marketplace's abundance.
Sales at this year's first marketplace increased by more than 11 million won compared to the same period last year, demonstrating a tangible boost to the incomes of local farmers and merchants.
This result is attributed both to the excellence of Inje's agricultural products and to the unique appeal of the Enuri Marketplace, where producers and consumers interact directly.
Reactions from visitors from outside the region were also positive.
Visitors to the marketplace expressed satisfaction with the unique local specialties and the warm, vibrant atmosphere found only in Inje, with many indicating intentions to return—a testament to the favorable response.
The next Enuri Marketplace is scheduled to operate as a special market during the upcoming holiday period from May 1 to May 3.
Inje County plans to continue the marketplace’s lively atmosphere during the holiday by offering even more attractions, food, and high-quality local specialties to both residents and tourists visiting Inje.
Going forward, Inje County aims to further promote the excellence of its agricultural specialties through the Enuri Marketplace and to expand the direct trade culture where both producers and consumers can be satisfied.
