Busan Office of Education to Hold 'Prompt Engineering' Student Competition
Formation of Teacher-Student Teams to Strengthen AI Competencies
App Development on the Theme of Busan, the Maritime Capital
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education will hold the 'Teacher-Student Harmony 2026 Prompt Engineering Student Competition,' in which local middle and high school students participate as teams together with teachers.
This competition has been organized for the first time this year to foster students' critical thinking and questioning abilities by utilizing prompt engineering technology.
The preliminary round, which began on April 20 and runs until next month, is being conducted by submitting prompt design documents under the theme of 'Busan, the Maritime Capital.' In the finals, which will be held from June to August, the top 15 teams from the preliminaries will undergo a final evaluation, including the app development process, app demonstrations, and a Q&A session with the judges. The selected apps will be used to solve marine-related issues in Busan, make policy proposals, and promote the city.
The final six teams, including the top prize-winning team, will receive an award from the Superintendent of Education, and the teacher who mentors the top team will also be honored with a guidance award.
Prompt engineering is a technology that involves designing questions and instructions in a sophisticated way to understand the reasoning of artificial intelligence and derive the desired results. This competition focuses on a 'logical design process,' evaluating the optimal answers produced through teacher guidance and student collaboration.
In particular, the 'vibe coding' approach, which centers on coding based on the overall intent and flow using AI tools, will be applied to lower the entry barriers for students with little coding experience. Additionally, by operating the teacher-student teams, the competition is expected to enhance the educational value based on communication and cooperation.
