Siheung City to Conduct Intensive Safety Inspections on Disaster-Prone Facilities... Strengthening Preemptive Checks
Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province has launched the "2026 Intensive Safety Inspection," targeting local facilities at risk of disasters from April 20 until June 19.
Accordingly, on April 20, the city held a meeting to review the 2026 Intensive Safety Inspection implementation plan, attended by relevant departments. The participants discussed key issues, cooperation among departments, and future plans.
The intensive safety inspection is a prevention-centered safety management initiative involving the government, public institutions, and citizens, and has been conducted annually since 2015.
This year’s inspections are focused on disaster-prone facilities such as multi-use buildings, accommodation facilities, and performance venues. Additional facilities may be included through the "Resident Inspection Application System." The city intends to enhance professionalism and effectiveness by conducting joint inspections with experts in civil engineering, architecture, electricity, gas, and fire safety, as well as public-private collaboration. In addition, self-checklists will be distributed to promote a citizen-participatory safety culture.
For minor issues detected during the inspection, immediate on-site action will be taken, while significant matters will be addressed through continued follow-up measures such as repairs, reinforcements, or detailed safety diagnoses. Furthermore, the city will operate the "Resident Inspection Application System" until June 1, allowing citizens to request inspections of specific facilities through the Safety Reporting App or local administrative welfare centers.
