Overseas Talent Recruitment Linked to Korea Study Abroad Fair
Over 100 Resumes Submitted On-Site
An event to attract overseas talent was held in Seattle, the center of advanced industries in the United States, where the headquarters of big tech companies such as Amazon and Microsoft are located.
The Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (hereinafter referred to as KOTRA) set up a promotional booth for talent recruitment and conducted activities to attract overseas talent in connection with the "Seattle Korea Study Abroad Fair," which was held on the 21st (local time) in partnership with the Consulate General of the Republic of Korea in Seattle and the Seattle Korean Education Center.
This fair was organized to introduce the Korean government's overseas talent recruitment programs and to present the process from studying abroad to employment to local university (and graduate) students interested in studying or working in Korea. Following the "Advanced Industry Overseas Talent Attraction Roadshow" held in Boston last month, KOTRA is continuing its talent recruitment efforts, focusing on New York and Boston in the East, and on Silicon Valley and Seattle in the West.
At the event, KOTRA operated an on-site promotional booth to introduce the Korean government's advanced industry overseas talent recruitment policy and the "K-Tech Pass" system, and, together with companies, provided employment counseling for jobs in Korea. The K-Tech Pass is a qualification certificate issued by KOTRA on behalf of the government to support the visa, entry, and settlement process for talent in advanced industry sectors.
The event, held in cooperation with 11 universities on the West Coast, including the University of Washington and Portland State University, attracted over 2,000 local talents who expressed interest in employment opportunities in Korea. There was also high interest in the online employment section, with more than 100 resumes submitted on-site after consultations with Korean advanced technology companies such as Dogu Robotics Co., Ltd. (autonomous driving robots) and HiCareNet (digital healthcare).
A student majoring in biotechnology at the University of Washington said, "It was a valuable opportunity to get information not only about studying in Korea but also about employment, which helped me consider going to Korea," expressing interest in studying and working in Korea. KOTRA plans to further expand cooperation with major universities in the western United States to support local talent in studying and working in Korea.

Kwon Ohyung, Director of KOTRA's Silicon Valley Trade Center, said, "Following the overseas talent recruitment seminars and consultations held in Silicon Valley in October and December last year, and the Korean talent recruitment seminar held in Seattle this March, this event shows that young talents in the United States are increasingly interested in studying and working in Korea. We will expand integrated talent recruitment activities—covering studying, employment, and settlement—not only in Silicon Valley but throughout the western region."
