Sunchang "Chamdurup Journey" Stimulates Appetites and Boosts Farmers' Incomes
Sales of Seasonal Spring Vegetables Like Bracken and Water Parsley Also Bring Smiles
The 2nd Sunchang Chamdurup Journey, held with the theme of Chamdurup, Sunchang County's representative spring forest product, concluded successfully with a large turnout of visitors.
The festival, which took place in the Gyeongcheon area from April 17 to 18, saw a steady stream of families and outside tourists, bringing vibrant energy to the venue throughout the event.
In particular, sales of seasonal spring vegetables such as Chamdurup, bracken, and water parsley increased significantly during the event, contributing to higher incomes for participating farmers.
Sunchang County successfully concluded the "2nd Sunchang Chamtureup Journey," held from the 17th to the 18th, with Chamtureup as the theme.
View original imageDuring the festival, Sunchang County estimated that sales of Chamdurup and other local agricultural specialties reached approximately 70 million won, with some popular items selling out early, reflecting brisk on-site sales.
At the event, family-friendly programs such as making pickled Durup and crafting Durup accessories encouraged visitors to stay longer and resulted in increased spending. In addition, food stalls featuring seasonal delicacies like wild greens bibimbap, Durup pancakes, and Durup tempura were well received, further enhancing the festive atmosphere.
There was also a wood culture experience center to promote the necessity and safety of using wood, highlighting its merits. The Korea Forest Cooperative and the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation hosted various events, including the distribution of daffodil and moss phlox flower pots and tasting sessions of Sunchang's local agricultural specialties, captivating many tourists.
In particular, the spring landscape—including fully bloomed daffodils and tulips throughout Gyeongcheon—combined with a musical fountain, elevated visitor satisfaction and led to increased consumption of the region's agricultural specialties.
