The purpose of this inspection is to identify and eliminate risk factors in facilities that may be prone to disasters or accidents before any incidents occur. The city will focus primarily on facilities closely associated with the daily lives of citizens, such as apartment complexes, children's play facilities, daycare centers, and multi-use facilities.
The inspections will be carried out jointly by private sector experts and relevant public officials through a public-private partnership.
The city plans to meticulously check for risk factors specific to each facility and to promptly implement necessary follow-up measures, such as repairs or reinforcements, based on the inspection results.
In addition, the inspection results will be transparently released to the public, and any facilities requiring repairs will be managed to ensure swift maintenance.
Choi Hyemin, Acting Mayor (Vice Mayor) of Gwangmyeong, stated, "The intensive safety inspection is a preventive activity to protect citizens’ safety by identifying risks in advance. We will thoroughly manage every step from inspection to follow-up actions to create a safe living environment where citizens can feel secure."
Meanwhile, since April 1, the city has also been operating the "Resident Inspection Request System," which allows citizens to request inspections of potentially hazardous facilities they encounter in their daily lives, until June 1.
