Various Online and Offline Events from April 20 to 24
Promoting the Spread of Carbon Neutral Practices
In celebration of the 56th anniversary of Earth Day (April 22), Ulsan City is holding the "2026 Climate Change Week" through April 24.
This year’s Earth Day slogan is "The Earth is Undergoing a Green Transition, Connecting the World Through Carbon Neutral Practices," highlighting that the world is changing together through efforts toward carbon neutrality.
During Climate Change Week, a variety of events will take place. On April 22 at 3 p.m., a commemorative ceremony for Earth Day will be held on the outdoor stage at the Salix Matsudana Lawn in Taehwagang National Garden, with around 300 participants including citizens and environmental groups.
On the same day, from 8 p.m. for 10 minutes, the "National Simultaneous Lights-Out Event" will take place, turning off the lights at major government offices such as Ulsan City Hall and district/county offices, as well as at key local landmarks like Taehwaru, Hamwolru, Simnidaebatgyo Bridge, and the Ulsan Bridge Observatory.
Participatory programs are also available online. From April 20 to 24, a range of events will be held, including daily mission certification for Climate Change Week, a carbon neutrality quiz, and carbon neutrality pledge declarations. On April 22, on-site promotional activities will also take place at Daewangam Park in Dong-gu and throughout the Ulsan Forest area in Buk-gu.
An Ulsan City official stated, "We hope that Climate Change Week and Earth Day will serve as opportunities for citizens to deepen their understanding of climate change and to put carbon neutrality into practice in their daily lives."

Earth Day was established to raise awareness about the seriousness of environmental pollution following an oil spill off the coast of California, United States, in 1969. Since 2009, South Korea has designated the week around Earth Day as "Climate Change Week," continuing a nationwide participatory movement.
