"Resident Evil" Star Milla Jovovich Debuts as an AI Developer
Free Release of AI Memory Enhancement Tool
Milla Jovovich, the Hollywood star known for her roles in "Resident Evil" and "The Fifth Element," has emerged as an artificial intelligence (AI) developer at the age of 51. She has created a new tool designed to enhance AI's memory and registered it on the software developer community GitHub.
According to Forbes and other foreign media reports on April 10 (local time), Jovovich released an AI conversation reconstruction tool called "MemPalace" for free on GitHub. The program was co-developed by Jovovich and Ben Sigman, a developer at Bitcoin Libre Labs.

According to these reports, Jovovich was inspired to develop MemPalace because of "gaming." After gaining an interest in games through her participation in the Resident Evil series, she discovered the limitations of AI's forgetfulness while working on a game development project.
While searching for a solution, she learned about the "memory palace" technique used by ancient Greek orators to memorize long speeches. The memory palace involves imagining a specific place in one's mind and arranging words to remember along the path through that place, thereby enhancing recall abilities. Similarly, Jovovich came up with the idea of structuring AI and user conversation data into chunks mapped to rooms, corridors, and a central hall within a palace-like structure.
Jovovich collaborated with engineer Ben Sigman and, with assistance from the generative AI "Claude," developed MemPalace. The tool is reported to outperform paid tools offering similar functions and received 23,000 "likes" on GitHub within just two days.

Some have expressed skepticism about how much hands-on involvement an actress like Jovovich had in developing a programming tool. In response, Ben Sigman countered, "She shoots action movies during the day, walks the runway at fashion shows, and codes at night."
