View original imageThe Korea Local Autonomy Management Awards were established in 1996 to advance Korea's local autonomy system by recognizing local governments that have achieved outstanding results in regional development through efficient organizational management and performance-oriented administration for residents.
The final selection was based on a comprehensive process, consisting of a first-stage quantitative evaluation (KLCI Korea Local Competitiveness Index assessment), a second-stage qualitative evaluation, a professional research-based resident satisfaction survey, and an on-site interview. This award was the result of Pyeongtaek City's overall evaluation in the institutional category, where its submissions for six different evaluation criteria were recognized, particularly for achievements across the entire industry and economy sector.
Pyeongtaek City has focused on building a foundation for new industries such as future vehicles, hydrogen, and artificial intelligence (AI). The city has accelerated the advancement of its industrial structure by supporting future vehicle parts companies and developing specialized talent, establishing infrastructure for AI industry growth, promoting the hydrogen city initiative, and constructing related facilities.
Support for revitalizing the local economy has also been steadily expanded. The city has implemented measures such as SME development funds, special guarantees, and support for technology, exports, and smart factories, while also working to stabilize small business operations, revitalize traditional markets, and operate the Pyeongtaek Love Gift Certificate to help restore the livelihood economy.
Meaningful results have also been achieved in the areas of social economy and employment. The city has strengthened the growth foundation for social economy enterprises, expanded customized employment support for citizens through job centers and recruitment events, and contributed to local employment stability.
