The hacker attempted to reassure the victims by promising, "The amount used will be returned within three days," and then pressured them to transfer funds by providing specific account details: "Toss Bank 1002-2568-5728 under the name Shin Goeun."
In particular, when a citizen who received the message requested a phone call to verify the sender's identity, the hacker avoided direct conversation with a pretext, claiming, "I am currently meeting an important person and cannot speak on the phone." The hacker then reassured the recipient by saying, "If you help me for now, I will call you personally tomorrow morning or afternoon," and used this bold tactic to induce the transfer.
This incident came to light when a citizen, suspicious of the message's content, contacted the city office to verify its authenticity. Hanam City has formally requested an investigation by law enforcement agencies and relevant authorities.
