Incheon to Support "Thousand Won Breakfast" at 12 Universities This Year
On March 26, the Incheon Metropolitan Government announced that it will support the "Thousand Won Breakfast" program at 12 universities in the region this year to promote the culture of eating breakfast and encourage the consumption of locally produced rice.
The universities receiving support include Incheon National University, Inha University, Inha Technical College, Gyeongin National University of Education (Incheon Campus), Yonsei University (International Campus), Chungwoon University (Incheon Campus), Gachon University (Medical Campus), State University of New York Korea, George Mason University Korea, University of Utah Asia Campus, Ghent University Global Campus, and Jaeneung University.

View original imageThe central government, local governments, and universities share the funding to provide breakfast to enrolled students for 1,000 won. This year, the city also plans to promote the consumption of local agricultural products by supplying 23 tons of rice produced in Incheon.
Since 2023, the city has been implementing this project. Last year, it provided the thousand-won breakfast to a cumulative total of 220,000 students from 11 universities.
Meanwhile, on the same day, Incheon Mayor Yoo Jung-bok visited Yonsei University International Campus to inspect the operation of the Thousand Won Breakfast program and listen to students' feedback.
Mayor Yoo stated, "It is important to listen directly to voices on the ground and reflect them in policy," adding, "We will continue to improve the program so that students can truly feel its impact."
