Jeju Air Expands 'Smart Pass' at Incheon Airport to Enhance Check-in Convenience
Facial Recognition Now Applied Throughout International Flight Procedures
Kiosk Issuance for Identity Discount Recipients on Domestic Routes
Jeju Air is streamlining airport check-in procedures for both international and domestic passengers by leveraging digital technology. The airline aims to reduce airport wait times by expanding the use of facial recognition technology and widening the eligibility for mobile ticketing.
On March 25, Jeju Air announced that it has been expanding the operation of 'Smart Pass', the facial recognition departure service at Incheon International Airport, since March 1. Previously available only at the departure area, Smart Pass now extends to self bag drop (baggage check-in) and boarding gates. Passengers who pre-register their facial and passport information on the app can complete check-in procedures using facial recognition only, without presenting their passport. Additionally, international flight passengers will receive boarding information notifications 40 minutes prior to departure.
The Jeju Air L counter at Terminal 1 of Incheon Airport is conveniently located near Exit 5, which has a dedicated Smart Pass line, making passenger movement efficient. However, passengers must always carry their passport and boarding pass when moving through security areas, and it is necessary to verify the passport's condition in advance, as entry to the destination country may be denied if the passport is damaged.

Services for domestic passengers have also been improved. Identity discount recipients, such as independence patriots and survivors or bereaved families of the 4·3 Incident, can now receive a mobile boarding pass through domestic kiosks after initial registration. Furthermore, the check-in window for domestic kiosks has been extended from 12 hours to 24 hours prior to departure, enhancing convenience for advance check-in.
