Mr. A is accused of driving approximately 3 kilometers while intoxicated, from Sindang-dong in Jung-gu to the Majang 2-gyo Intersection in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, at around 7:25 a.m. on February 3. At the time, his blood alcohol concentration was reportedly at a level that warranted license revocation.
The investigation found that Mr. A had been criminally punished for drunk driving on six previous occasions since 2004. Among these, he was sentenced to imprisonment twice.
Notably, this latest offense occurred just four days after he reacquired his license, which had been previously revoked for drunk driving.
The police expanded their investigation, suspecting that Mr. A may have habitually driven even during his license revocation period. They found that he had driven without a license on four occasions using a vehicle registered under his wife's name, and included these offenses in their charges.
