Hanwha Investment & Securities Launches "Domestic Market Reshoring Investment Account (RIA) Event"
Various Benefits Including Coffee Coupons and Cashback
Hanwha Investment & Securities announced on March 24 that it will hold the "Welcome Back to Korea: Domestic Market Reshoring Investment Account (RIA) Event" until May 29.
This event is open to all domestic residents who own overseas stocks. After applying for the event, customers can open a Hanwha Investment & Securities RIA account and deposit their overseas stocks to receive either a coffee coupon or a cashback benefit.
Hanwha Investment & Securities will provide a coffee coupon for overseas stock deposits of 1 million won or more and less than 10 million won, and up to 50,000 won in cashback (differentiated by deposit amount) for deposits of 10 million won or more. To receive these benefits, participants must maintain their RIA account balance until the end of June.
The RIA account is a tax-advantaged account that temporarily reduces capital gains tax on overseas stock sales if the proceeds are reinvested in the domestic market for more than one year.
If customers deposit overseas stocks held as of the settlement date of December 23, 2025 into an RIA account and sell them by May 2026, and then invest in the domestic market (cash deposits, domestically listed stocks, domestic equity funds, or domestic equity ETFs) for at least one year, the tax benefits will apply.
The tax benefit limit is 50 million won, and the capital gains tax reduction rate varies from 50% to 100% depending on the timing of the sale and domestic investment.
