RM: "I Will Never Take for Granted the Kindness Shown at the Gwanghwamun Concert" [BTS is back]
Long Message Shared on Weverse After Comeback Show
Expresses Apologies and Gratitude for Inconveniences Caused by Traffic Restrictions
RM, the leader of BTS, expressed his gratitude to the officials responsible for on-site safety and to the citizens after completing the group's comeback concert at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
On the night of the 21st, RM posted on Weverse, saying, "After a four-year wait, the seven members have come together again to meet you all in the meaningful space of Gwanghwamun." He continued, "I would like to thank everyone who showed consideration and support, making it possible for our comeback stage to be completed safely."
He added, "I sincerely bow my head in gratitude to the police, fire department, government, and local authorities who embraced Gwanghwamun Square as the stage for our comeback and worked to ensure a safe concert without major incidents despite the huge crowd."
BTS held "BTS Comeback Live: Arirang" at Gwanghwamun Square at 8 p.m. on the 21st, presenting a one-hour performance with new songs and hit tracks. According to the organizer, HYBE, approximately 104,000 people gathered in the Gwanghwamun and City Hall Square areas that day. The Seoul city government estimated about 48,000 attendees. About 22,000 people entered the concert venue itself.
In preparation for the large crowd, traffic around Sejong-daero was restricted for 33 hours, and nearby subway stations, including Gwanghwamun Station on Line 5, were closed with trains passing through without stopping from around 2 p.m. Strict control measures were implemented, including operating 31 security checkpoints under a "caution" level terror alert.
RM said, "I am truly sorry and grateful to the citizens, shop owners, and office workers in the Gwanghwamun area for enduring the inconveniences caused by traffic control, noise, and other issues. I will never take for granted the kindness with which you accepted our concert and will remember it deeply in my heart for a long time."
