The city announced that the Mokpo City Medical Association donated wandering detection devices to the Dementia Safety Center during its regular general meeting and commemorative ceremony held on March 17, to help prevent missing cases among seniors with dementia.
The donation ceremony was attended by approximately 150 people, including Acting Mayor Seokhun Cho of Mokpo City, the heads of the public health center and Hadang Health Branch, members of the dementia health team, Mokpo City Medical Association members, and external guests.
The wandering detection device enables real-time tracking of dementia patients’ locations, which not only helps prevent missing incidents but also reduces the burden of care on their families. The donated devices will be distributed as a priority to dementia patients at risk of wandering through the Mokpo City Dementia Safety Center.
Mimi Jung, Head of Hadang Health Branch in Mokpo City, stated, "Missing incidents involving dementia patients cause significant anxiety and difficulties for families," and added, "This donation will be a great help in ensuring the safety of seniors with dementia in the community."
Myungwon Kim, President of the Mokpo City Medical Association, commented, "As a local medical professional, I organized this donation to support seniors with dementia and their families," and pledged, "We will continue to engage in sharing activities to promote the health and welfare of the local community."
