The leadership of the People Power Party has voiced concerns regarding the single-candidate nomination method, which has recently become a source of controversy in certain regions. Park Heeyoung, head of Yongsan District, filed an appeal after the Seoul Metropolitan Party Committee decided not to allow her re-admission, but her appeal was not accepted.

Choi Boyoon, chief spokesperson for the People Power Party, explained to reporters after the meeting, "There were concerns that, in situations where competitive candidates are being nominated, the practice of single-candidate nominations needs to be discussed, especially in comparison to the Democratic Party of Korea."
When asked whether this statement implied a need for primary elections, she replied, "Whenever single-candidate nominations are made, it is important that such decisions are well understood and thoroughly discussed." She added, "Not every member of the Supreme Council made this statement, but such concerns were raised."

After the Seoul Metropolitan Party Committee refused her re-admission, Park filed an appeal, which was brought up at the meeting, but the decision was to defer the matter. Chief spokesperson Choi clarified, "In effect, it was a rejection," and added, "The re-admission agenda itself has now been dropped."
