Police Apply for Arrest Warrant for Man in His 50s Who Murdered Airline Captain
The police have applied for an arrest warrant for Kim, a former airline co-pilot in his 50s, who was apprehended after murdering an airline captain and fleeing the scene.
The Busan Metropolitan Police Agency announced on the afternoon of March 18 that it had applied for an arrest warrant for Kim on charges of murder.
Kim is accused of stabbing and killing Captain A, a former colleague and airline captain, with a weapon at an apartment in Busanjin-gu, Busan, at around 5:30 a.m. the previous day.
Kim had also attempted to strangle and kill Captain B, another colleague, at a residence in Ilsanseo-gu, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, on March 16, one day before the murder of Captain A, but failed and fled the scene.
Immediately after killing Captain A, Kim went to the residence of another former colleague, Captain C, in Changwon, South Gyeongsang Province, with the intent to commit an additional crime, but was unsuccessful.
Kim then fled to Ulsan, but was apprehended by the police at around 8:00 p.m. on March 17, approximately 14 hours after the crime.
It was revealed that Kim held a grudge against four airline captains, including Captain A, who were his seniors at the Air Force Academy and colleagues, and for several months had been tailing them, identifying their residences, and meticulously planning the crime scenes.
