Taehun Lee Heads to South Africa This Time
Competing at LIV Golf South Africa
Riding High After Runner-Up Finish in Singapore
"My Goal This Year Is to Finish in the Top 3 of the Individual Points Standings"
Korean-Canadian golfer Taehun Lee is set to make his mark in Africa.
From March 19, 2026 (local time), Lee will compete in the LIV Golf South Africa tournament, held over four days at The Club at Steyn City (par 71, 7,557 yards) near Johannesburg, South Africa. The event offers a total prize purse of 30 million dollars and is the fifth tournament of the 2026 LIV Golf season. This marks the first time that LIV Golf is being held on the African continent.
Taehun Lee has been making waves on the LIV Golf circuit this year. Last week, he finished as runner-up at LIV Golf Singapore. After tying with Bryson DeChambeau (USA), he entered a playoff but narrowly missed a 90-centimeter par putt on the first hole of the playoff at the 18th, finishing second.
Lee currently ranks 148th in the world and is 7th in the LIV Golf individual points standings. He is achieving the highest results ever for a wild card entrant in LIV Golf history. After finishing in Singapore, he traveled to Johannesburg to prepare for this tournament.
Through his management company, All That Sports, Lee commented, "Last year, I continued my tour career without a sponsor, which was a challenging time. Even after securing first place in the LIV Promotion, it was not easy to find a sponsor who truly believed in my potential. Fortunately, Woori Financial Group recognized my abilities and potential and signed a sponsorship contract with me, for which I am deeply grateful." Lee has a special connection with Woori Financial Group, having won the Woori Financial Championship last year.
