Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency Expands Support for Medical Bio R&D and Validation
The Bioindustry Division of the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency is expanding support for research and development and validation for medical bio companies in the province by establishing advanced research equipment infrastructure.
Support for medical bio research and development has been promoted as part of the "Establishment of Core Material Technology Development and Medical Bio Commercialization Support Platform" project, an industrial innovation infrastructure project by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, which has been carried out by the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency since 2024.
Core materials for medical bio refer to essential materials used in various medical bio industries, including pharmaceuticals, health functional foods, medical materials, and cosmeceuticals.

View original imageThis year, the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency strengthened the research environment by establishing three types of advanced research equipment that allow medical bio companies to conduct cell analysis and efficacy verification required during the research and development phase.
The newly established equipment includes: ▲ High-throughput cell target substance imaging system (Operetta CLS), ▲ Chemiluminescence imaging device (iBright CL1500), and ▲ Real-time cell observation and analysis system (CELLCYTE 3).

Hyun Changha, Executive Director of the Future New Industry Division at the Gyeonggi-do Economic Science Promotion Agency, stated, "Building advanced research equipment is a key foundation for enhancing the R&D competitiveness of companies," adding, "We will contribute to the advancement of research and the enhancement of new drug development capabilities of medical bio companies in the province by supporting scientific verification and commercialization of core medical bio materials."
