Announcement of 2026 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation: Food Service Sector Results for Select Districts in Seoul
KCA Korea Consumer Evaluation has announced the results of the <2026 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation: Food Service Sector> for select districts in Seoul (Mapo, Seodaemun, Seocho, Seongdong, Seongbuk, Songpa), hosted by the Korea Consumer Council and organized by Korea Consumer Evaluation.
The purpose of this evaluation is to realize the eight major consumer rights guaranteed by Article 4 of the Framework Act on Consumers, such as the right to have opinions reflected, the right to information, and the right to choose, by presenting consumer evaluation results by industry based on the standard industry classification. It also aims to provide consumers with objective and useful information, thereby improving the quality of consumer life.
The 2026 KCIA Korea Consumer Industry Evaluation: Food Service Sector is conducted to promote the development of the domestic food service industry. Each year, businesses that provide excellent food service, as determined by actual visitor evaluations, are selected and introduced to the public.
For this evaluation, a preliminary survey was conducted across the country, dividing regions and utilizing data such as the number of reviews on portal sites between December and January. Candidates were notified if they ranked within the top 31.5% of evaluations. Among these, the final outstanding businesses in the capital region (Seoul, Gyeonggi, Incheon) within the top 0.23% were selected based on the following evaluation criteria.
Korea Consumer Evaluation visited the respective food service businesses and conducted a final evaluation based on the real experiences of consumers. Outstanding businesses by region and category were selected according to six final criteria: satisfaction with food, satisfaction with facilities, staff friendliness, price adequacy, accessibility, and overall evaluation. The announced list is as follows.
A representative from Korea Consumer Evaluation stated, “Recently, the criteria for choosing a food service business have expanded beyond taste itself to encompass the quality of ingredients, store hygiene and atmosphere, and consistency of service—covering the entire user experience. As the criteria for selecting businesses are further segmented according to individual preferences and usage purposes, consumer expectations for the overall dining experience each business provides are also rising.” The representative added, “We hope this evaluation will serve as a useful reference for consumers in choosing food service businesses that best suit their purposes and preferences, and furthermore, contribute to the sustainable growth of the overall food service industry.”
