Expanding Cultural Access for Underprivileged Groups
229 Programs Scheduled Across the Region
The Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation (CEO Kim Jae-su) signed a business agreement on March 16, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the foundation's third-floor conference room to promote the "2026 Gyeongbuk Province Culture Day Across Every Corner" project.
This agreement involved 14 organizations, including five local cultural foundations—Goryeong Cultural Tourism Foundation, Yeongyang Festival Tourism Foundation, Yecheon Cultural Tourism Foundation, Cheongdo Woori Spirit Culture Foundation, and Cheongsong Cultural Tourism Foundation—as well as Social Cooperative Local & Culture Research Institute (Mungyeong), Wansan Tteurak Village Management Social Cooperative (Yeongcheon), Baekdudaegan National Arboretum (Bonghwa), Sangju Museum (Sangju), Uiseong Jomunguk Museum, Geumsu Culture and Arts Village Management Council (Seongju), Songgang Art Museum (Andong), National Youth Marine Center (Yeongdeok), and National Uljin Marine Science Museum (Uljin).

View original imageThe Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation and these organizations plan to enable residents in 15 culturally underprivileged areas to naturally enjoy culture in their daily lives by providing a variety of cultural and artistic content that reflects the unique characteristics of each region.
The main programs will run every Wednesday from April to November this year on "Culture Day," with a total of 229 sessions scheduled across the 15 culturally underprivileged areas. In addition, resident participation-centered content highlighting each region's distinctive characteristics will be expanded.
Healing and participation-based programs such as music therapy in Goryeong, sound experience in Mungyeong, and terrarium making in Bonghwa will be provided. There will also be various cultural programs that reflect generational and regional characteristics, including an Andong art museum tour, Yeongdeok visible radio, and Cheongdo Hwarang Spirit Quiz, all of which will take place in their respective regions every Wednesday.

Choi Jong-soo, President of the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation for Arts and Culture Promotion, stated, "Through this agreement, we hope that residents of the 15 culturally underprivileged areas in the province will not be marginalized from culture, and that a wide range of programs will be expanded so they can enjoy arts and culture in their daily lives."
