On March 15, Yeonpung Kim, a prospective candidate, officially announced his candidacy for the Daejeon City Council election in Yuseong District's 3rd constituency (Noeun 2·3-dong, Sinseong-dong).
Candidate Kim has served as a political affairs advisor to National Assembly member Jeongah Hwang of the Democratic Party of Korea. On this day, he held an opening ceremony at his campaign office in Banseok-dong, Yuseong District, where he unveiled his vision for "practical politics" aimed at uninterrupted development and strengthening the urban competitiveness of Yuseong.
The opening ceremony was attended by Heo Taejeong, a prospective candidate for Mayor of Daejeon, as well as National Assembly members Jeongah Hwang and Chulmin Jang, Yuseong District Mayor Yongrae Jeong, and prospective candidates for Daejeon Superintendent of Education Gwangjin Seong and Sooseok Maeng.
In addition, more than 300 supporters, including the Democratic Party advisory group and those planning to run in the local elections, filled the venue to capacity, making the event a great success.
Assemblywoman Jeongah Hwang emphasized, "As always, I will ensure that the blue wave across Daejeon is led by Yuseong, and Yeonpung Kim will be at the forefront of that movement."
She also urged, "Together with President Jaemyung Lee, please give your full support to the outstanding candidate Yeonpung Kim so that the victory of the Lee administration will become a victory for the Republic of Korea."
In his statement of candidacy, Candidate Kim said, "My legislative work, built on close interaction with local residents, has given me the firm conviction that politics must be about action, not just slogans. I promise to become a practical politician who incorporates even the smallest voices of citizens into policy."
Kim's key pledges focus on redesigning the local economy, transportation, and cultural landscape. He plans to create quality jobs by modernizing the Noeun Agricultural and Fisheries Wholesale Market and promoting the Ansan National Defense Industrial Complex. He also pledged to advance the long-awaited Jijok Tunnel project in Yuseong District without delay to resolve traffic congestion.
Additionally, Kim expressed his ambition to expand public parking lots in the Noeun 2-dong and Sinseong-dong areas, restore Ansan Fortress, and develop a forest restoration cultural tourism complex, transforming Yuseong into an attractive tourist destination.
