On March 15 (local time), at the TPC Sawgrass The Players Stadium Course (par 72, 7,352 yards) in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, during the fourth round of the PGA Tour's fifth major, The Players Championship (total prize money of 25 million dollars), Kim recorded three birdies, five bogeys, and one double bogey for a 4-over-par 76. With a final total score of 1-over-par 289, Kim dropped from a tie for 33rd place the previous day to a tie for 50th place.

On the front nine, he traded two birdies and two bogeys to make the turn at even par, but then collapsed with a double bogey on the 11th hole and consecutive bogeys on the 12th and 13th holes. His fairway accuracy rate was only 57.14%, and his average number of putts per hole on greens in regulation was as high as 1.91.

Cameron Young (USA) shot a 4-under-par 68 to claim a one-stroke victory (13-under-par 275). With a birdie on the "death hole" 17th (par 3), Young joined Matt Fitzpatrick (England) in the lead, and then secured the winning par on the final 18th hole (par 4). This marks his second career win, following his victory at last year's Wyndham Championship. He received a winner's prize of 4.5 million dollars (approximately 6.7 billion won).

Fitzpatrick settled for runner-up (12-under-par 276) after a tee shot error led to a bogey on the 18th hole. Xander Schauffele (USA) finished third (11-under-par 277), while Tommy Fleetwood (England) and Justin Thomas (USA) tied for eighth (8-under-par 280). World No.1 Scottie Scheffler (USA) finished tied for 22nd (5-under-par 283), and defending champion Rory McIlroy (Northern Ireland) tied for 46th (even-par 288).
