"Rebuild Suseong District Office as a 20-Story Complex at Current Site, Not Relocate"...Jin-Hoon Lee Proposes New Complex Building Plan
A 170 Billion Won Construction Investment
Set to Become a Symbolic Landmark of Daegu
Jin-Hoon Lee, preliminary candidate for Mayor of Daegu Suseong District, officially proposed on the 15th the reconstruction of the current location into an administrative complex building as a solution to the Suseong District government office relocation issue. His plan is to utilize the current Beomeo Intersection office site, instead of relocating to Beomeo Park, to construct a complex facility combining administrative, cultural, and commercial functions.
Lee stated, "The project to relocate the government office to Beomeo Park, which has been pursued for the past eight years, has faced multiple challenges, including controversy over damage to park land, issues with selling the current office site, and significant financial burdens," adding, "It is now time to consider more realistic and sustainable alternatives."
He explained, "The plan is to transform the current Beomeo Intersection office site into a complex building with three underground floors and twenty above-ground floors. The total floor area will be approximately 33,000 square meters, with 14,900 square meters for the district office, 3,300 square meters for the district council, 4,950 square meters for the public health center, 9,900 square meters for revenue-generating facilities, and 16,500 square meters for underground parking."
He also added, "The total construction cost is estimated at 170 billion won. Of this, about 20 billion won each will come from national and city funds and district funds, 50 billion won from public fund loans, and the remaining 80 billion won will be repaid through rental income from revenue-generating facilities." He continued, "We are also considering entrusting the development and operation to specialized asset management organizations such as Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) or LH, which would reduce the financial burden and speed up the project's progress."
Lee pointed out, "Organizations such as Suseong Police Station, the court and prosecutor's office, and the tax office are planning to relocate to the Yeonho District. By creating a complex office building that brings together specialized services and public institutions centered around the district office, we can maintain the central function of Beomeo Intersection and connect it to the strategy for the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Central Business District (CBD), linking Beomeo Intersection, Yeonho Intersection, and Suseong Lake in the future."

He emphasized, "The Suseong District Office is not just an administrative facility but a symbolic space for the city. Reconstructing the administrative complex building at its current location is the most pragmatic solution, as it avoids controversy over park destruction, reduces the financial burden, and revitalizes the city center."
