LAFC Opens Season with Four Straight Wins and Clean Sheets... Son Heung-min Earns 6.6 Rating Without Attacking Points

Son Heungmin's team, Los Angeles FC (LAFC), extended their winning streak to four consecutive victories at the start of the Major League Soccer (MLS) regular season. They also continued their run of four straight matches without conceding a goal.

On March 15 (Korea time), LAFC defeated St. Louis 2-0 in their 4th round home match of the 2026 MLS regular season at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, USA. Midfielder Mathieu Choinière led LAFC to the win by scoring both goals in the second half.

Son Heungmin started the match and played until the 71st minute but did not record an attacking point. In the league this season, Son has provided three assists in four matches but has yet to score a goal. Including the CONCACAF Champions Cup, he has recorded one goal and seven assists this season.

According to WhoScored.com, Son Heungmin had two shots and one key pass in this match. He touched the ball 30 times, made 20 passes, and had a 100% pass completion rate. WhoScored.com gave LAFC's defenders ratings in the 7-point range and the attackers in the 6-point range, with Son Heungmin receiving a rating of 6.6.

The anticipated matchup with St. Louis' Jeong Sangbin did not occur. Jeong Sangbin was substituted in for Rafael Santos in the 83rd minute, after Son Heungmin had been replaced, but he did not record an attacking point.

LAFC currently leads the Western Conference on their own, having scored eight goals and conceded none in four regular season matches. In the current MLS Western Conference, LAFC, Vancouver Whitecaps, and San Jose Earthquakes all remain undefeated, although the Whitecaps and Earthquakes have yet to play their fourth-round matches.
